The wisdom is already here

You know something
someone else needs.

How to mend a favorite jacket. Grow food in a small space. Navigate a first job. Keep a family tradition alive.

Detroit Has Something to Teach invites residents to turn that knowledge into a short lesson through storytelling, photography, and audio. You don’t need to be a professional artist or teacher. You just need something to share.

WOODSY brings the equipment and creative guidance. Neighbors bring the experience.

From a conversation to a community resource

Share it. Shape it. Pass it on.

01

Find your lesson.

At a free workshop, identify a skill, story, or piece of practical wisdom you want to share.

02

Create your contribution.

With WOODSY’s guidance, turn your idea into a short story, image, or recording and a printed community lesson card.

03

Meet your audience.

A public showcase brings the lessons together. Visitors can scan QR codes to explore recordings and accessible transcripts.

The learning keeps going

A little exhibit.
A lasting collection.

With participants’ permission, their contributions will become a free digital collection and printed take-home materials.

The portable exhibit can travel to willing community locations, giving the knowledge a life beyond one workshop.

Residents will choose what they share and approve how their contributions are presented.
